Robust reliable high-top Renault Master, 2006, has done UK to Spain twice, currently in Spain, multiple local adventures in both countries, campsite-friendly with some offgrid ability, comfortable and fun. Full-size double bed sleeps two (room for small 3rd on porch seat at rear) useful extra storage under bed for transporting packing crates, or even strap the bed up to lend to a friend for moving house. I bought it to commute between UK and Spain with my dogs so lots of work has been done to get it in best mechanical shape, most recent new timing belt. Leisure battery mainly does the wall lights (there are 3 double lights in all), TV mounted on swivel behind driver seat, lots of overcab storage, 30m campsite hookup (UK and EU adaptors) links to multiple adaptor in kitchen space for electric kettle, TV, etc.
Off-grid, gas hob with cartridges plus camping kettle, and a small powerpack to keep cooler-box fridge and laptop going. There’s even a collapsible sink and an emergency loo tucked in there. Simple but comprehensive fittings pared down and fine-tuned over multiple trips.
I had bought it to register it in Spain but it is still N1 on the logbook, not possible under Spanish law and driving a foreign vehicle with a Spanish licence is dodgy, so I have to sell or go through the process of reclassifying as a camper so it can be plated in Spain. Sell is the easier option although it ticks all boxes to convert – internal height 2m, 4 windows in habitation, etc.
