So, I have been in the van now for a few weeks and I have got to admit it pretty cushty! Living it the van on a more regular basis has now given me a good insight into the life you have to lead, and the changes you have to make when you do live in a van, even down to the basic necessities like water! You would be surprised on how much water you consume a day, even when you try to use it sparingly.
I have been working the Gloucestershire & Wiltshire area for the moment, the scenery is breathtaking. Some of the areas I drive past are actually like an oil painting, so English.
I have worked in Bristol before and new the place was a lovely place to work. The people are always friendly, the women are hot, and the place is just generally a nice place to work.
After a hard 7 days constant graft on the streets, me and Kyle (the lad I am sharing the van with for the moment) decided we wanted a night out. We was in Bristol so it would be silly to drive on now when your in a city that is rumored to have one of the best nightlife’s in the UK. I parked the van on the car park located near Price street, next to the river Avon.
When I woke up the morning after, we decided that Gloucester will be our next port of call. I flicked the wipers on and bang, the passenger side wiper broke in half. I new not to panic as I no it would be a relatively cheap and simple fix. It was a Sunday so I could not do anything about it, and still, I had the drivers on and was not raining, of to Gloucester we went!
Best Bit: The Bristol Museum.
Worst Bit: The wiper blade braking.
So, arrived in Gloucester last night (14th Feb), and having worked Gloucester in the past, I new the area a little. We camped up near the Orchard pub, located about 2 miles out of the main town center. I have to admit, it was one of the coldest nights in the van yet, I definitely need to invest soon in a nice heater. The actual sleeping part in the sleeping bags is not bad, actually very warm as we both have 4 season bags, its just the horrible cold waking up in the morning that gets you!
So, found a good car park for the day, it was £6 and that was for 24 hours just located in the town center. Got to work, and was done for around 3pm. Just a standard day, nothing special happened.
Best Bit: It was a sunny day.
Worst Bit: Nothing.
I finished a bit earlier than my college so I checked Gumtree for anything I might be interested in and 2 canoes popped up relevantly cheap around half an hour away drive. I called the man, had a brief chat and next thing you know, I now have 2 big red canoes strapped on the roof – Will be good in summer I guess!
